A New Way to Be

Starting off the New Year, many people have resolutions about weight loss, spending more time with family, cutting carbs, sodas, and candy.

This year, I invite you to try something different. Make your New Year's resolution and your life's focus to be the person you want to be remembered as when you are gone.

For me, it starts with letting go of expectations, and doing nice things just for the sake of being nice. Without strings attached. It means releasing anxiety as it comes and exercising my right to be happy. It also means treating the people in my life with a higher degree of respect and compassion. Understanding that it is okay for myself and for my loved ones to make mistakes, and being courageous enough to forgive when it happens.

This year, and in the years to come, find yourself being the person you want your loved ones to have memories of. Be more kind, less judgmental, more loving, less harsh, more giving, less expectant, more compassionate, less testy. In the process of being this kind of person for other people’s memories, trust that you will be happier in the course of it. While doing so, make sure that you are in alignment with your highest good – which will be easy because all of our lives should be love focused and concentrated on being joyful and grateful.

Happy 2014. All things show that this will be a year of change, growth, promise and love.

Much love,
M
