Slowing Down

Rushing, speeding, flying, barreling, and moving through life with increasing haste? Stop it. What's your hurry?

So many of us are so focused on what's next in life. Hurry up to that next promotion at work. Race your way home after work. Propel yourself to the next activity or function. It's time to take time - to breathe, to enjoy, to... relax. Our society moves at a hundred miles an hour, and we are caught up in the whirlwind of movement. This inhibits you from enjoying the little things in life - but these are the things that mean the most. In the flurry of running this perceived race, you are missing out on so much happiness and love around you. Life is a series of moments woven together to create our experience, but it is necessary to remember that you are creating your own moments. If you choose to slow down and enjoy as many of these moments as you can, when you look back at the end of your life, you will remember being happy. Happiness is a choice.

Pause for a moment today, and send a little message to someone you love. Not a text message on your phone. Do something more personal, something special.

Affirmation for today:
I freely give myself permission to stop and enjoy the small joys of today. I am comfortable with taking my time to focus on the good in my life. I am grateful for the little things.

Prayer for today:
Thank you, Spirit, for helping me to slow down and for showing me the power in relaxation. Thank you for the beauty of the world and the opportunity to take it all in.
